DOMINGO BARRERES BIO
b. 1941
Born in Valencia, Spain, Domingo Barreres moved to America in 1960 and studied at the School of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. He has been a teacher there since 1967 and resides in Boston.
Barreres has said that the two greatest influences in his career are his Catholic upbringing and his immersion in the New York school of Abstraction.
Using a wide range of mediums to convey his subject matter, Barreres brings together supernatural elements. He has exhibited at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, the Whitney Biennial at the Whitney Museum of American Art, the DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Park, and continues to exhibit in Boston, New York and Spain.
