King Kong, 1934
Released in 1933, King Kong was an American pre-Code monster, horror romance drama directed and produced by Merian C. Cooper and Ernest B. Schoedsack. Starring Fay Wray, Robert Armstrong and Bruce Cabot, the film opened in New York City to rave reviews and has since been ranked among the greatest films of all time. In 1991, it was deemed "culturally, historically and aesthetically significant" by the Library of Congress and selected for preservation in the National Film Registry.
